Gandhi
Jayanti is a national holiday celebrated throughout India to commemorate the
birthday of Mahatma Gandhi, the "Father of the Nation."It is
celebrated on October 2 of each year. It is one of the three official national
holidays of India and is observed in all its states and territories.

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi was born on October 2nd 1869 in Gujarat, Porbandar India.
Gandhi ji life with acceptance and practice of truth, non-violence,
vegetarianism, simplicity and faith in God and was a political and spiritual
leader within India. He was a pioneer of Satyagraha, firmly founded upon total
non-violence.
Gandhi
ji lot of movement in India like
:-Champaran Satyagraha (1917),Kheda Satyagraha (1917 -1918),Khilafat Movement
(1919),Non-Cooperation Movement (1920),Civil-Disobedience Movement (1930),Quit
India Movement (1942) etc .
This
movement inspired India to freedom and since then its efforts inspired
movements for civil rights and freedom around the world. It was a source of
inspiration for many political leaders around the world, including Nelson
Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr.
The day is marked by prayer services
throughout India, and especially in Raj Ghat, the Gandhi memorial in
New Delhi, where it was cremated.Painting
and essay contests are held and prizes are announced for projects in schools
and the community.Often, Gandhi's favorite devotional song, Raghupathi Raghava Rajaram, is sung in memory of him.
Gandhi
Jayanti is celebrated throughout the country and in governmental and
non-governmental organizations. As it is a national holiday, all schools,
colleges and offices throughout the country remain closed.
World Celebrating Bapu's birthday: Prime

The celebration of the anniversary of Bapu's
birth and the arrival of Navratri at the same time is a very auspicious
coincidence. While India commemorated the 150th anniversary of the birth of Mahatma Gandhi on Wednesday, the main leaders
of the BJP, including Prime Minister Narendra
Modi, visited Rajghat in the morning tribute for father of the nation. The
acting head of Congress, Sonia Gandhi, andformer Prime Minister Manmohan Singh also paid tribute in Rajghat. The
workers of Congress made a massive oath to carry forward the vision of Mahatma
Gandhi. Meanwhile, the head of BJP, Amit
Shah, flaunted Gandhi Sankalp Yatra throughout the country. In the
evening, Prime Minister Modi visited the Sabarmati Ashram in Gujarat to address
10,000 sarpanchs. He also declared India "free from open defecation"
and the success of the Swachh Bharat
Mission and launched a war against plastic.
